We set of on Monday 29th November to join the Skills coach at Java hotel. Shelia (our organiser and given the nickname "Gadabouts") had already picked most of our lot up from Langley mill and after one more stop at Watford Gap services to pick up two more passengers, we made for Portsmouth to catch the ferry to I O W. It was a lovely day and as the coach had made good time we managed to catch the ferry an hour earlier than planned. The journey took about 6 hours and when we arrived at our hotel in Shanklin, coffee and mince pies greeted us. The hotel was brilliant. Food excellent and entertainment marvellous. No snow had fallen in the first day, but by Tuesday night we had a light covering, just enough to make us think twice about a crazy golf contest. Didn't put Ian of though, as you can see in the next picture. By Wednesday, the snow came with a vengeance. Our trip to Osbourne house had to be cancelled as none of the staff could get there. The hotel had to manage on limited staff, but a very good job was made by all those that managed to get in ( One chef walked 4 miles in bad conditions to make sure we were all well-fed) That's dedication for you. On our last night we had a fancy dress contest. I've put a few of my favourites on my next post.
